ABOUT ABOUT

Registrants will view a video replay of Professor Ross Guberman’s seminar entitled “Strategies for Opinion Writing & Advanced Legal Editing for the Judiciary.” Funded by a grant from the Florida Court Personnel Institute, the program was originally presented live and recorded at the First District Court of Appeal in 2019. Professor Guberman agreed to a one time, state-wide replay of the recorded seminar.

This program is designed to educate appellate law clerks and judges along with circuit court judges, county court judges, and staff attorneys. Professor Guberman of Legal Writing Pro has published extensively on legal writing and editing and has been a frequent and popular lecturer at Florida judicial education conferences. In this seminar, he will address topics such as drafting introductions and fact sections for opinions, structuring legal analysis, and style tips and tricks. He will also discuss how to take an objective approach to editing. Handouts and other course materials will be provided to registrants.

Registration is open to everyone – including those who attended the live presentation in 2019. Note that you may register to view the replay either in person at the First District Court of Appeal (in the court’s multi-purpose room) or remotely through an online platform. Applications are pending for CLE & CJE credit. (The live seminar in 2019 was previously approved for 6.5 hours of CLE & 5 hours of CJE).
